Jazz: More Than Just the Music

April 30, 2017 @ 4:00 am - July 1, 2017 @ 1:00 pm EDT

The Belton Area Museum Association along with presenting sponsor Draisen Edwards Music Center invites you to tour the newest exhibit at the Historic Belton Train Depot–Jazz: More Than Just the Music.

Celebrating all things from the Jazz Age–from music to clothing, from new inventions to architectural styles–this exhibit will share the artifacts of our local community in interactive and innovative displays.

Also known as the Roarin’ Twenties, this time period’s culture was a stark contrast to the norms and traditions prior to World War I. A reaction to the devastation of the war was a “live life in the moment” philosophy, which resulted in changes in clothing and hair styles, entertainment, business ventures, leisurely pursuits, and social mores. This exhibit means to examine those social changes through a representation of artifacts from the time period.

The exhibit, Jazz: More Than Just the Music, will be available for viewing from 9 AM – 2 PM, Wednesdays – Fridays, and 9 AM – 1 PM on Saturdays from April 30 til July 1. Or call 864-338-7400 to set up a group tour.

Thanks to our sponsors: Draisen Edwards Music Center, City of Belton HTAX, and Anderson County ATAX.
